A scientist digs up a fossil near the top of the grand canyon and another scientists digs up a fossil near the bottom of the grand canyon, which fossil should be older?

Enrichment: Is there a possible way that the bottom fossil is younger? if so then explain a possible way.

Ok well usually the bottom fossil would be older, since you know that erosion is a thing and that older things get piled over newer ones.

I would think It could always be possible for the bottom fossil to be newer because you never know how certain fossils lived. What if the fossil lived underground and the older one didn't?
