hhanan:

Which of the following is a geometric sequence?

hhanan:

babygirlimarie:

the last one

jhonyy9:

do you know what is a geometric sequence ?

hhanan:

no

hhanan:

would it be number 2?

darkknight:

number 2 is an arithmic sequence, because we are adding by 3 each time, 2 is an arithmic sequence. do you know what a geometric sequence is?

hhanan:

no

darkknight:

you don't know what a geometric sequence is or you don't agree with me?

hhanan:

i dont know what it is

darkknight:

oh okay, so an geometric sequence is a sequence formed by multiplying by the same value each time. For Example: 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256,, 512... this is a geometric sequence because we multiplied by 2 each time. Understand?

hhanan:

but i don't see that for any of them and i was thinking the first one but the end would not work either

darkknight:

the first one is not multiplying by the same number 2 ,4 , 16, 48... 2 * 2 = 4 4 * 2 does not equal 16 16 * 2 does not equal 48 so the first is wrong

hhanan:

for the 3rd on it add 3 each time

darkknight:

correct it is the third one, you multiply by -5 each time. Good job

darkknight:

5 , -25, 125, -625 5 * -5 = -25 -25 * -5 = 125 125 * -5 = 625. Do u see how this works?

hhanan:

ok thank you

darkknight:

np, have a good day
