ok this is gonna be better than the other one sorry, but, they use a coordinating conjunction (such as but) to join these clauses together. it has more than one independent clause (one that can stand as a sentence by itself) and use a comma as well.

ik im late, but a compound sentence is when a word such as and, but,also, as well, etc. puts 2 separate ideas/points together in one sentence, for example "I want soup and maybe some bread as well"
