A picture has a width that is 17 inches shorter than the length, and its total area is 480 square inches. Find the dimensions of the picture.

let be the length x so than the width will be x - 17 and given that area = 480 square inches hope you know that area of a rectangle equal length time width A = x * (x-17) using this equation you need calcule the x value and than you get the x value so this will be the length of the picture and just substitute in the place of x in case of x-17 and so will get the width of the picture too
