Of 30 students 1/3 play sports. Of those who play sports, 2/5 play soccer how many students play soccer?

LjTheBaller16:

out of 30 students*

ScamTheMan:

Well, first we have to divide the problem into two questions. Those questions are: 1. How many students play sports 2. How many of those students play soccer. We know that 1/3 of 30 students play sports. We can find out the whole number by multiplying 1/3 by 30. 1/3 x 30/1 = 10 Now of those 10 students, we know that 2/5 play soccer. We do the same exact thing we did in the first step and multiply 10 by 2/5 10/1 x 2/5 = 4 We know that out of the 30 students, that only 4 play soccer
