lazytaz:

I know i'm supposed to use SOH COH TOA for this triangle but i forget how to solve it because i know sin is sine = o/h (opposite/hypotenuse) which im supposed to use to solve the length of this triangle but idk how to solve it if that makes sense (let me post a picture of the problem)

nevaehhh:

Ok, first we need to figure out what each side is...

nevaehhh:

What side is C ? Is it adjacent or opposite ?

lazytaz:

adjacent right?

nevaehhh:

It's ~opposite~ from the given angle, so it's opposite- so that makes the bottom angle what ?

lazytaz:

okay so we're using tan to solve length c then? since tan is o/a

lazytaz:

wait no

lazytaz:

it's still sin

nevaehhh:

Yep- so now we have c/9=tan 60

lazytaz:

c has an angle of 90 so would it be sin90 = 60 divided by 9?

nevaehhh:

Wait-

lazytaz:

so 10ft is the answer?

nevaehhh:

!0 ft can't be the answer- I messed up somewhere 9/tan 60=c is the answer Just solve that^ and that'll give you the answer...

lazytaz:

okay ty

lazytaz:

5.19ft correct?
