Explain why it is important that federal judges are appointed to lifetime appointments (as opposed to limited terms)?
I believe that it is the fact that a judge's job is to declare laws by judicial review just by the law (No bias or favoritism by party), rather than an elected official's job is to rule by their party, and that they are also elected. That's one major difference I know. If that makes any sense.....
Yes, I agree with that. By serving lifetime sentences, the judges are able to be free of pressure that comes with having to satisfy politicians from a certain party. They will be able to interpret things based on their understanding of the constitution without worrying about constituents and a political party like the Pres. and Congressmen(women) do.
