This is Daniela’s work to solve the equation 13 x + 42 = 276. 13 x + 42 = 276. 13 x = 318. x = 24 and StartFraction 6 Over 13 EndFraction.
What is the question asking?
Which property did Daniela need to use to avoid her error?
forgot to add that sry
Can you post a screenshot please?
yes
Ok thanks,
\(13x+42=276\) So it looks like she added 42 and 276 but really she should have changed the plus `(+)` to a minus `(–)` then since it's a minus now, subtract it from both sides so subtract 42 from both sides of the equation which would look like this; \(13x+42−42=276−42\) So after subtraction 42 from both sides you should get the answer of \(13x=234\) So we have 13x so we have to take 13, and divide both sides of the equations by 13 So the equation we should have when we are dividing should be \(\frac{13x}{13}=\frac{234}{13}\) So then 13x/13 would cancel out So now we have \(\cancel{\frac{13x}{13}}=\frac{234}{13}\) So then after you solve 243/13 then you should have your answer so basically you simplify 234/13
