Cherokee culture thrived for thousands of years in the southeastern United States before European contact. When the Europeans settlers arrived, the Indians they encountered, including the Cherokee, assisted them with food and supplies. you said nothing about them setting up missionaries, or used a syllabary  to encourage literacy, you are indeed missing some info because you want to sum up the whole second paragraph, not copy one line from it
