The data set below shows the number of books checked out from a library during the first two weeks of the month: 10, 89, 80, 95, 85, 92, 90, 9, 99, 97, 96, 92, 91, 88 Which of the following statements is true based on the data set? (1 point) a. There is one outlier, indicating very few books were rented out on that day. b. There are two outliers, indicating very few books were rented out on those two days. c. There are two outliers, indicating an abnormally large number of books were rented out on those two days. d. There is one outlier, indicating an abnormally large number of books were rented out on that day.
What is an outlier?
If you know that then you will be able to figure out this problem. If you don't know I will be more than glad to help.
no i dont know and i kind of dont get it so i thought i could get some help on here
Yes, ok so an outlier is a dramatic increase or decrease in a data table. So looking at your numbers it starts off as 10 and then the next number is 89. So 10 would be an outlier.
Look at your data table and tell me how many outliers there are and if they increase (go up) or decrease (go down).
so an outlier is usaily the starting number ? or the lowest ?
No, if you have a set of numbers and they are pretty consistent like 11, 14, 13, 16, 10, and then it jumps to 50 then goes back down to 15, 16, 13. If that was your set of numbers then 50 would be an outlier. It dosen't necassarily have to be the first or the last or middle. It's just a dramatic increase or decrease in a number line.
oh ok so im counting how many times the number goes up or down or both ?
correct me if im wrong but is there 3 outliers ?
im not good at math...
no there is 2 outliers. So it is either B or C. To figure out the next part of the problem, do those numbers go up or down?
they go up right ?
sorry for lag i didnt see the message
No down, the two outliers are 10 and 9, but the other numbers are 80-96 so with that information which answer choice is right?
b ?
because throughout those two days there low numbers meaning not a lot of people rented books
