Maybe You tried opening your car, and you couldn't get it open so you smashed the window open and someone's little kid saw you and told their mom,.. And she called the police.

You then went to the jail, where they had to do a quick scan and make sure it was your car after you had told them the story. They let you off the hook and someone made a donation to you to help pay for your car., Since you couldn't pay for the damages.
