โ๐๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐๐๐ซ ๐ญ๐จ ๐๐๐ฉ๐จ๐ซ๐ญโ (UPDATED 2-28-24!!!) Hello, QuestionCove users! I would like to talk about an important topic that affects our site greatly... The need to report! Now, recently, the Moderators and Ambassadors of the QC team have been helping out greatly on the site, making sure it stays safe and welcoming for every new user that signs up. However, we understand that there will be trouble. Users that will break/bypass the rules. Many of you have been using the Report button wisely, and we thank you for doing so. :) When you do report, please make sure it is something that breaks the rules. If possible, report the exact message that's doing so. It would also be useful to include a specific report description. This will help us view the action and thus, take action. You can find the Rules on the menu of QuestionCove. However, for those that donโt know it exists or how it works, then allow me to tell you in this tutorial I set up for you guys!
๐๐ก๐๐ซ๐ ๐ข๐ฌ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐๐ฉ๐จ๐ซ๐ญ ๐๐ฎ๐ญ๐ญ๐จ๐ง? There are four current ways to Report, three in most vital and public sections of QC. Hereโs each one of them down below!
๐๐ก๐๐ญ When you see someone bypassing the filter, sharing innapropriate content, spamming, or any other action that offends the site, always feel free to report the messages. This way, if a Mod or Ambi dosenโt see them immediately, they can be brought to attention quicker and take action.
๐๐ No, the Mods or Ambis cannot see your complete personal dm history. However, they can see a fragment of the messages sent around a message that is reported. This Report button is to be used when a user is harrassing you, spamming you, or threatening you in a way that offends the site. Itโs very important to note that the Block button also exists, and if the user is just simply bothering you constantly, itโs better to use that button than report; then they wonโt be able to reach you via dm. Use this button wisely.
๐๐จ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฌ If you see a post is clearly spamming, making innapropriate comments, or having nothing to do with the subject its listed in; Report! If the Mods donโt catch it quick enough, the Reports will be sure to grab attention faster. This is how we keep QC following its primary purpose: helping users with their academic questions! If youโre confused on what spam is, or if you arenโt sure on if a question is allowed or not, then feel free to check out some of the rules posts made for some of the subjects! They will be located on the top of each subject. If there isnโt one, then feel free to ask a local Moderator or Ambassador, and they will give you an answer.
Thereโs also a Report button with responses. These are used in case a user is giving a direct answer, spamming, or harrasing a user. Instead of trying to confront the user yourself, please refer to the Report button instead, as it avoids needless conflict.
๐๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐ฆ๐จ๐ง๐ข๐๐ฅ๐ฌ Lastly, the least known of the Report buttons, is found in testimonials. If a user gives you a testimonial that goes against the rules of the site, use the Report button there as well. If itโs something that just bothers you personally, thereโs always the โDeleteโ button as well, which gives you the option to delete the testimonials people give you.
In conclusion, reporting does help the site a ton, in making sure thereโs nobody attempting to bypass the clear rules of our community. There should be no rightful reason for anyone to break the rules, yet there are people out there who do. So help our wonderful website thrive by helping out the moderation keep it clean and running well, and be reminded to report! And of course, contact a local online Moderator or Ambassador if thereโs any questions concerning this topic. :)
Added Note If you notice a user in your DMs or in the chats impersonating a user that is banned from the site, or even the banned user itself evading their consequence, please use the Report button once you have solid evidence (confessions) by said user, so that we may take action and remove them from the website. These people are not allowed on the site for a reason, as they have repeatedly offended our rules and guidelines, and we cannot allow this. Please support the site by helping us remove these individuals who insist on returning even after their ban. Thank you, and if you have any questions, again, please contact an Ambassador or Moderator. โโโโโโโ
Added Note 2 When it comes to DM reporting, there is one key reminder that needs to be addressed. QuestionCove does not tolerate video chatting links or external social media websites, as it presents a danger to users. Clicking on external links can lead to danger for others if not prevented, and also to you, the user. The possibility of being hacked, being presented explicit content you donโt want to see, harassment we canโt monitor, and more. Therefore, we encourage you to report these kinds of links you receive in DM or in chats that go against this rule, in order to continue promoting safety for this website. Do not click on them. Attached is a screenshot with the highlighted rule, for reference. So as usual, thank you, and if you have any questions, please contact an Ambassador or Moderator. โ
