How were the British initially treated by the Mughal government in India in the 1600s?
pretty sure: the mughals were a vast empire, and the British like the other Europeans sought to expand colonies overseas, but they can't just go out and do that, so they had to ask the mughal government in India if they were allowed to trade/do business. The mughal government responded by allowing them, maybe seeing no threat at first but when the governement declined we see a british takeover
