Start with basic art and design principles (examples: linework, shape, proportions, color theory) and then learn about how these apply to fashion design. (Books are a good place to start)

Learn about fashion history and modern fashion design

Watch fashion shows, read magazines (I personally like harpers bazaar and vogue for women’s fashion, not sure about men’s), take notes, use them as references
