Isry:

So lets think of it this way. The US Government is split into to two separate and (ideally) equal entities. The Federal Government and the State Government. A State Law is a law that is specific to that state. A federal law is one that is consistent among all states. It's a government mandate. This is why when gay marriage was first legalized certain states had already legalized it. Whereas when it was legalized according to the supreme court it became legal all across the United States.

dontsaymyname:

Okayyy, so now how do I use Federal in a sentence? I think it has to be by itself, like not Federal law or federal government ;-;

Isry:

But federal literally means federal government.

dontsaymyname:

Oh? So I should write a sentence using federal government?

Isry:

Something like "The federal system ensures that individual states have some form of sovereignty."

dontsaymyname:

Thank you!!
