In general Proxy means a proxy server that has a dedicated computer or a software system running on a computer that acts as an intermediary (intermediary means something like.. a mediator. A link between two things) between an endpoint device, such as a computer, and another server from which a user or client is requesting a service. So you have the server over here and then a computer over here. And they're sending information back and forth to each other. Literally the gateway to your internet
