Shantelsurry:

ΔABC is an isosceles triangle in which angles B and C are congruent. If m∠B = (2x + 16)° and m∠C = (3x - 11)°, find the measure of angle A. A) 27° B) 40° C) 60° D) 70° https://www.usatestprep.com/modules/gallery/files/85/8561/8561.jpg

Livxxx:

Which answer choice could you mark off first?

Shantelsurry:

A

AZ:

If the angles are congruent then that means they are equal to each other. m∠B = m∠C First you have to solve for x (2x + 16) = (3x - 11) Can you solve for x or do you know how to?

AZ:

It's not the correct answer

AZ:

And you asked her what she could eliminate...??

draebrewer:

what do u think the asnwer is

AZ:

Anyway, remember first we have to solve for x and then we substitute that number back in to 2x + 16 so we can find the value of angle B and since angle B = angle C we can then use the fact that m∠A + m∠B + m∠C = 180 degrees and solve for angle A
