hhanan:

How fast was a driver going if the car left skid marks that were 80 feet long on dry concrete? (The coefficient of friction is 1.02)?

Timmyspu:

So what is the first thing we have to do here?

hhanan:

divide

Adovbush:

do you have answer choices

hhanan:

no

AZ:

I found this formula \(\text{S} = \sqrt{30\text{df}}\) S is the speed the car was traveling (in mph). d is the distance the car skidded (in feet). f is a special number (called the coefficient of friction) that depends on the road surface and road conditions

AZ:

so plug in d = 80 and f = 1.02 and solve for S

AZ:

(found the formula here, for future reference https://www.mathed.page/attc/lessons/ch.09/9.B-skidding-distance.pdf)
