Seafoam:

If sin y° = s over 8 and tan y° = s over t, what is the value of sec y°? sec y° = 8s sec y° = 8t sec y° = 8 over t sec y° = t over 8

darkknight:

\[\sin(y)=s/8\] \[\tan(y)=s/t\] \[\sec(y)=1/\cos(y)\]

darkknight:

from here. we want to find sec(y), lets find cos(y) if \[\tan(y)=\sin(y)/\cos(y)\] \[(s/t)=(s/8)/???\] where ??? = cos(y) we solve for ???

darkknight:

using some algebra, we can rearrage to solve for ??? \[??? = (s/8)/(s/t)\] can u simplify this?

darkknight:

the right side of the eqn

Seafoam:

Does it simplify to t/8?

darkknight:

correct so \[\cos(y)=t/8\] and \[\sec(y)=1/\cos(y)\] so what is sec(y)

darkknight:

\[1/(t/8)\]

Seafoam:

Oh to 8/t

darkknight:

correct have a good day, be sure to click best response if u wanna (up to u). :)

Seafoam:

Thank you very much, I really hope I dont fail. And theres a part 2, I'm not religous but god help me.

Seafoam:

Have a great day yourself.

darkknight:

np, and ty!

Seafoam:
