b)Priya has picked 1 ½ cups of raspberries, which is enough for ¾ of a cake. How many cups does she need for the whole cake?

Peregrinecella:

Hi! I could help you if you want me to

sleepyfish:

yes please

Peregrinecella:

Okay, so 1 1/2 cups of raspberries is needed on 3/4. Is it possible for you to divide 1 1/2 cups into 3 pieces/parts?

sleepyfish:

oh my gosh ok i figured it out ty LOL maybe i need to be splashed with water to wake up

AZ:

Let's just work in decimals so we don't confuse ourselves with the fractions 1 1/2 is 1.5 3/4 is 0.75 We need 1.5 cups of raspberries for 0.75 cake How many raspberries do we need for 1 cake? We're essentially setting up a proportion and if we say that we need 'x' raspberries to make 1 whole cake, we get: \(\dfrac{1.5}{0.75} = \dfrac{x}{1}\) Can you solve for x now?
