BGHarper:

By making accusations against others in court, Abigail and her friends attained _____. power reputation hysteria jealousy

TypicalFoxGirl:

Could we have a bit more context, like is this from a book?

BGHarper:

Yes from "The Crucible"

TypicalFoxGirl:

Thank you

MxxnLight:

Sorry for the late answer!! what do you think we can eliminate first? sir/ma'am.

Razor:

@BGHarper Using the process of elimination - we can eliminate A, B, and D. A - because a civilian cannot obtain power in a courtroom for merely accusing people. B - because the only reputation they'd get would be fraudulent and they would be withheld from speaking for x amount of time. A minor punishment given by the Judge if spoken without spoken to - especially if you have no law based stand in a courtroom. D - because... why would they attain jealousy in a courtroom for accusing other people? Logically incorrect and could be eliminated right off the spot. Giving you your answer, C. We know this because hysteria is a word used to describe intense emotion - excitement and such. Usually used whenever groups are really excited emotionally. And it doesn't have to be happy excitement, anything that gets the blood pumping to your heart.
