skrtkobainn:

Miller has a painting that is 4 ft by 8 ft. What will the dimensions of the painting be if he scales it down by a factor of one-fourth ? (5 points) 4 ft by 8 ft 2 ft by 4 ft 1 ft by 2 ft 16 ft by 32 ft

jhonyy9:

so original has width 4 ft and length 8 ft if are down by a scale factor of 1/4 so just multiply the width and length by 1/4 and see what will get ? @supie

jhonyy9:

@AZ

skrtkobainn:

i dotn understand

AZ:

Jhonyy went offline so I'll respond We're trying to draw this new shape to be 1/4 the size of the original

Miller has a painting that is 4 ft by 8 ft. If we scale down the painting by a factor of one-fourth , then the dimensions of the painting will be one-fourth of the original dimensions. Right @jhonyy9?

itzzalyssa:

er @AZ

AZ:

So to find the new dimensions, just multiply by 1/4 4 * 1/4 = ? and 8 * 1/4 = ?

itzzalyssa:

you said she doesnt understand the method right?

itzzalyssa:

ughhh here

itzzalyssa:

The dimensions of the painting if he scales it down by a factor of one-fourth=2 ft by 1 ft.

itzzalyssa:

^^ since nobody's sayin anything

skrtkobainn:

8 times 1/4 =2

AZ:

what about 4 times 1/4

skrtkobainn:

1

skrtkobainn:

so would the answer be 1ft by 2ft

AZ:

Good so our original dimensions were 4 feet by 8 feet if we're making it 1/4 the size then we get 4 *1/4 feet by 8 *1/4 feet

AZ:

Yes, exactly!!

skrtkobainn:

A triangle can be formed with side lengths 2 in, 3 in, and 6 in. (5 points) True False
