Triangle ABC was dilated and rotated to form triangle DEC. What is the length of side AC? (Figures not drawn to scale.)
@jhonyy9 help ?? :')
I'm going to draw ABC and DEC side by side so it's easier to see how the sides are proportional |dw:1614428598756:dw|
so, looking at it this way, EC and BC are proportional; CD and CA are also proportional so CE/CB = CD/CA ----> 5/8 = 6/x, solve for x
Im slow on this subject, How can I solve for x may I ask ?.
cross-multiply
x = 9 3/5 ?-
|dw:1614429040590:dw|
|dw:1614429069040:dw|
ok one sec, brb- ldkjfkl
Let me clarify, we are saying 5/8 because side CE is similar to CB does this make sense?
Yes but no but I'll figure it out to understand
What are you confused on?
Basically everything but like this cross division multiply thingy has me confused-
When we are setting up a cross multiplication problem our goal is to solve for x
So 5×X=5x 8×6=48 Because we are cross multiplying
Alright.
Do you understand or would you like more clarification?
Yes I understand it slightly more sorta-
How would you solve for x now? 5x=48 What can we do to get x alone?
Divide-?? not sure
Yes we will divide 5/5=1x so just x= 48/5
What is 48/5
9.6 ?
Yes
So x=9.6
i- this is easy but im not able to learn this quick.- Tysm one sec.
