but you can do \[10^{\log_{10}y }=10^{17}\] This is called exponentiating we took 10 to the power of (left side and right side) to cancel the log we will get \[10^{\log_{10}y }=y\] and 10^17 equals that as well
use formula of logarithm log_a b = x => a^x = b for example log_10 100 = 2 => 10^2 = 100
