Why in the Andes Mountains do living environments appear divided into vertical floors? What are these environments on the slopes of the Peruvian Andes?

Beacause of the mountains, they stop all the moisture from spilling on the other side, think of it as a wall, then you spray it with mist from the garden hose, only a small part of it is going to go over the wall, most of it is going to be stopped by the wall and condensate.
