how do we do time @az
number 5
what are you doing?
number 5 the time
Same concept as #3 except that we know the rate but now we're solving for time A = P * (1 + rt) Can you tell me what the A, P and r are going to be for #5?
there aren't any numbers plus, the fifth line-ish thing/paragraph thing is like addition ??
wrong ss
lol
yeah I assumed as much haha. This is the question:
interest stuff---- umm should i assume the first line is the principle, the second is interest is it annual or what? and the third is time, and the fourth is the ending sum-ish thing
first is the principle second is the annual rate third is time fourth is the interest
I have to do time
remember the A in our equation is the initial amount + interest the initial amount is in the first column and the interest is in the last column so what is 4800 + 2160
6960
So that's your A what is your rate (convert it to a decimal) and what was the initial amount again?
6.960
no no 6960 is our A A = P * (1 + rt) what is our RATE (9%) as a decimal? and what is our P the principle our the initial amount? It's the number in the first column
0.09
@az
and what was the beginning amount?
4800
good so now we have A = 6960 P = 4800 r = 0.09 so put it all into our formula 6960 = 4800 * (1 + (0.09t)) we have to solve for t can you do that?
divide
yes divide by 4800 on both sides
I got 53 repeated
what did you divide 6960 = 4800 * (1 + (0.09t)) we should first be doing 6960 / 4800 =
1.45
@az
so now we have 1.45 = 1 + 0.09t subtract 1 on both sides and then divide by 0.09
I got .0405
@az
1.45 - 1 = are you sure it's 0.0405
I got .45 and you said times it by 0.09
so I did
DIVIDE
5 I'm sorry calm down
because we'll have 0.45 = 0.09 * t since we're multiplying 0.09 and t, to get t all by itself we have to divide on both sides
Oh I'm sorry, I'm not yelling. I'm just using caps to show emphasis on the word haha

yes :) now just divide 0.45/0.09 =
thanks for the help and I got 5
and that's your time in years! so 5 years :)
