Maude Lexington used to live on Park Avenue in Manhattan, but when her husband took the job as president of the state university branch here in Plainville, she reluctantly moved along with him. I waited on her once at the Pig and Fry, right after they moved to town. First thing I noticed was that she didn't make eye contact with anyone but her husband, and every time she looked at him he wilted like a daisy on a hot day. She told me to bring her the most expensive thing on the menu, but when I brought her the smoked catfish salad — which is absolutely delicious — she turned up her nose like it was a plate of dirt and worms. "I should have you fired on the spot for bringing me this abomination! Do you know who I am? I am descended from royalty!" And on and on like that. She grabbed her mink coat — or fox, or badger, or whatever it was — and stormed out, still with no eye contact and her nose in the air. Her poor husband apologized over and over and left a big tip, and then he scurried out after her. what is the best explanation of how the passage provides indirect characterization of maude lexington 1 of 2 QUESTIONS a. It uses foils — including the bitter narrator — to show her understanding nature. b. It uses action — including her refusal to make eye contact — to show her snobbish nature. c. It uses action — including her enjoyment of catfish salad — to show her tasteful nature. d. It uses foils — including her meek husband — to show her powerful nature.

Well to begin, we can eliminate optin C because it says `including her enjoyment of catfish salad` and she didn't like the salad, so that's incorrect. I'd also say to eliminate option A because in my opinion, she doesn't seem very understand. She is a stuck up, snobby, entitled character. So from B and D which do you think ?

carlosherrera06:

ummm i think its probs ummmm

carlosherrera06:

it might be b i think......

mxddi3:

Do you know why you think B, or are you just guessing?I can explain to you what i would choose as the correct answer and why.

carlosherrera06:

tbh im just guessing

carlosherrera06:

and yeah sure go ahead and explain what u think pls

mxddi3:

Ok so I was also thinking it was option B. The reason for this is because, to me, she doesn't seem very powerful, but also when she refused to even look at people besides her husband along with how she acted when she got her food, it made her seem very snobby in my opinion. Just because her husband's position is high, doesn't mean she's necessarily `powerful`. So for that, I think B is correct as well.

carlosherrera06:

oh htat is a great reason tbh ur so smart and thx for helpin me have a blessed day
