wikki18:

The development of an atomic bomb by the Soviets in 1949 did all of the following except A) increased the nuclear arms race between the U.S. and Soviet Union B) increased psychological tensions in the U.S. and Soviet Union C) led to the development of more bombs in the U.S. D) immediately led to a treaty that limited the number of nuclear weapons in the U.S. and Soviet Union

simsharrison:

Do you know any that you can eliminate?

shototodorokii:

simsharrison:

I honetly want to help with this, but I don;t know the answer, sooo hopefully AZ can help. ;.;

AZ:

So what do you know about the Cold War? The Arms race?

AZ:

which answer choice is not like the others haha Look up about the nuclear arms race during the Cold War between the Soviet Union and the US

wikki18:

i tried looking for information but i cant really find any

AZ:

So, you have the Soviet Union and the US they're both competing against each other in trying to make more nuclear weapons so that way they can be more stronger in case of a potential attack

AZ:

You already know that US had an atomic bomb (remember WW2 and Hiroshima and Nagasaki?) so if the Soviet Union develops an atomic bomb now in 1949, how would that change things? remember- people were scared of nuclear bombs because boom and everything is wiped out. So they were scared of a war breaking out and nuclear bombs being used

wikki18:

yes it would make them more worried about the bomb right?

AZ:

now remember that the question says EXCEPT so which answer choice can you eliminate?

wikki18:

c?

AZ:

yes, we can eliminate that since the Soviets are making bombs, the US is going to make more what else can we eliminate?

wikki18:

a right?

AZ:

Good, good! Now what else can we eliminate? Remember what we said about people being worried about a possible war that could get nuclear bombs involved

wikki18:

so if people were worried about it that means the tension rose between the Soviet union and the u.s?

AZ:

the answer choice says tension IN the US and Soviet Union but yes the people in each country would be more tense that if something accidentally triggered a war, then the whole world was going to end with all the nuclear bombs they had so what answer choice are we left with?

wikki18:

b? i believe its this cause it says expect and i feel like the bomb would make us want to have a treaty so that wouldnt be the answer

AZ:

no remember the cold war didn't end until the Soviet Union broke apart into different countries in 1991

AZ:

they didn't sign any treaty, they were competing against each other to make more

wikki18:

so d?

AZ:

yes

wikki18:

ok, thank you for your help :)

AZ:

You're most welcome! :)
