It shows that the conflict of the story was that One boy was sadly disabled so this caused him to have limited access to what he could do in life (One boy,he)-"Kevin"

And the other boy was mentally not intelligent (He basically lacked intelligence )-"Other boy,he-Max"

So the story "conflict" was basically about to boys two boys, one was physically disabled-(Something wrong with his body which caused his body parts to not work correctly or even work at all) and the other was mentally disabled-(Intellectual disability; He had a learning problem)
