narutouzamaki2:

The area of a regular hexagon inscribed in a circle with radius 5 is _____? . Round your answer to the nearest whole number. pl help me

narutouzamaki2:

@AZ

AZ:

|dw:1615223962344:dw| so we have a hexagon inscribed in a circle

narutouzamaki2:

ok

AZ:

|dw:1615224070395:dw| the radius is 5

narutouzamaki2:

ok

AZ:

|dw:1615224108457:dw| since it's a regular hexagon, that means the the angles inside when you divide it up will be 60 and so you can see that the sides of a regular hexagon inscribed in a circle will have the same length as the radius so the length of hexagon sides = radius of circle

narutouzamaki2:

so 25

snowflake0531:

no

snowflake0531:

do you know hwo to find the area of a triangle? lol, sorry for being blunt

narutouzamaki2:

ok is it 64.95

snowflake0531:

*shrug, i'm terrible at shapes AZ will come lol

AZ:

I doubt you know the formula for a hexagon but let's look at the triangles the hexagon is made up of 6 triangles each triangle is a 60-60-60 triangle so the area of an equilateral triangle is area = \(\dfrac{\sqrt{3}}{4}s^2\) let's find the area of one triangle so if the side is 5, what is the area of one triangle?

AZ:

okay, maybe we need to do it step by step? s is for side so what is 5^2 or 5*5

narutouzamaki2:

5*2 is 10 and 5*5 is 25

AZ:

no no 5^2 is \( 5^2\) which is 5 * 5 so yes that's 25

narutouzamaki2:

ok

AZ:

so now we have area = \(\dfrac{\sqrt{3}}{4} \times 25\) can you pull out your calculator and multiply and divide those numbers?

AZ:

remember, that's going to be the area of only one triangle, we'll have to multiply whatever number we get by 6 to find the area of the entire hexagon

narutouzamaki2:

how eacxcly do i put that in a caculater

AZ:

sqrt (3) times 25 divided by 4

AZ:

or you could even Google https://www.google.com/search?q=sqrt(3)+*+25%2F4

narutouzamaki2:

i think i got it isnt it -47

AZ:

where did you get a negative number from? how even

narutouzamaki2:

idk thats what it said on the cocculater

snowflake0531:

press on his link

AZ:

what do you get I really don't know how to teach someone how to use a calculator

narutouzamaki2:

it said 10.8253175473

AZ:

yes that's the area for one triangle now multiply that number by 6 because we cut up our hexagon into 6 triangles, remember?

AZ:

|dw:1615225445945:dw|

AZ:

so basically 6 * 10.8253175473

narutouzamaki2:

ok 64.9519052838 thats what i got

AZ:

now round it to the nearest whole number

narutouzamaki2:

64.95

snowflake0531:

*whole number

snowflake0531:

whole number

AZ:

is 64.95 closer to 65 or 64 64 and 65 are whole numbers

AZ:

whole numbers are numbers you can count on your finger

narutouzamaki2:

idk i not smart like yall jeez

snowflake0531:

never said i was smart-_-

AZ:

is 64.95 closer to 65 or 64 if you have 95 cents is that closer to 1 dollar or 0 dollars

narutouzamaki2:

1 dollar

AZ:

so similarly is 64.95 closer to 65 or to 64

narutouzamaki2:

65
