It was important to the U.S due to the fact that it would have made them as whole more powerful. They would have a much larger country.

Well it happened in May 14, 1804. They headed upstream on the Missouri River in the keelboat and two smaller boats. They went at about 15 miles per day
William Clark explored the Louisiana Purchase and the Pacific Northwest. It is a important chapter in the history of American exploration.
