Kiyahhh:

Toan is building tables for the Park Department. He needs 20 bolts for each table. If he has 60 bolts at his workplace and he gets 300 more bolts from the supply room, how many tables can he build?

snowflake0531:

how many bolts does he have right now?

snowflake0531:

i suggest adding 300 to 60

Kiyahhh:

ok

snowflake0531:

so how many bolts fdoes he ahve

Braydenzinslili:

She would have 360

supie:

You need to find the total amount of bolts he has divided by 20 because it says he need 20 bolts for each table, so you're dividing the the total amount by the amount needed to make one to figure out how much he can make in total~ if that makes sense so in order to find the total amount of bolts he has, you would do 300+60 because it says "he has 60 bolts at his workplace and he gets 300 more bolts" meaning that he already has 60, then he gets 300 more adding on to that 60, which is 300+60. so \(300+60=total~amount \) and \(total~amount ~\div~ 20=\text{the amount of tables he could buy}\) (and the question asks how much tables he could buy so that would be your final answer. lmk if any of that doesn't make sense.
