Your second image, the one with the red marking, is indeed correct. So good job!

artlover03:

Thank you thank you!

AZ:

So what are you thinking about your first question? We don't know how many total number of marbles are in the bag. Only that 19 of them were red. Would it be possible to find out how many total marbles there are?

artlover03:

i mean yea of course lol.. i dont know how to get there :(

AZ:

So I really don't like this question because that's the trick, you think hey, this is a math question! That means they want me to find it. That means I should be able to find it. But they made an answer choice as "not enough information"

AZ:

So here's the thing: We know there's 19 red marbles. And there's some 'x' number of white marbles. We took out 18 marbles from this bag and 5/6 of them are red. That last information doesn't give us anything to help figure out how many white marbles there are. But first, can you tell me how many red marbles we chose? If we took out 18 marbles and 5/6 of them were red. How many of them were red? (Just multiply it)

artlover03:

ikr i cant tell what is right and wrong or relevant to it!

artlover03:

15?

AZ:

Good! So if we took out 15 red marbles when we pulled out 18 marbles that means the remaining 3 marbles are white. Do you see part c of your question? It asks how many red marbles did we NOT pull out. So how many of the red marbles were not chosen then?

AZ:

so remember, you said we took out 15 red marbles we had a total of 19 marbles according to the question so how many red marbles did we not take out?

artlover03:

4

AZ:

Exactly! So that's the answer for the third part

AZ:

so now to help you for the other two imagine you have a huge long jar it's filled with 1000 white marbles and our 19 red marbles but our 19 red marbles are at the top and so when we are picking out our 18 marbles, we're taking it from the top and we ended up with 15 of them being red so do you think there's any way of knowing how many white marbles there are? Or how many total marbles there are?

artlover03:

no...?????

AZ:

and so that's your answer to both part A and part B that jar could have only 50 white marbles or 5000 and we just happened to pick up most of the red ones since they were at the top or something

AZ:

There's just not enough information (:

artlover03:

thank you so much for helping me through that! that lowkey confused meee

AZ:

I'm glad I could help :)
