Help o;@ @AZ
this is a struggle for me ._.
ah the 'x'
i dont know wat the x for
so you know a circle has a whole 360 degrees?
no
i thought it was 90
The way they come up with numbers is weird but you just have to learn it You know how 100 pennies makes 1 dollar or how 60 minutes makes one hour? So its one of those things, one whole circle is made up of 360 degrees
You got that?
Yes
I'm just tryna see if I even did it right. I did a 2 step equation and got an answer though.
Good! So now let's break your image up a bit so you can understand what they're showing us
|dw:1615488286953:dw| They're saying that this big angle is 140 degrees
but now they CUT that angle, we don't know by how much but when they cut it, they get: |dw:1615488331465:dw| so they cut the big angle into two and get one angle that is 80 and another angle that is 5x
Does that make sense?
they cut it in half?
so like the two smaller parts have to add up to the big part so the smaller angles add up to the main angle
they didn't cut it in half half would mean that both are equal they just cut it- we don't know if it's half yet
ah
that's what we have to figure out! so the two angles added together equal the big angle so we have 5x + 80 = 140
i dont understand the x still 0_0
so we're solving for 'x' now that means we want 'x' all by itself first let's get 5x all by itself
@Tranquility
To get 5x all by itself we need to move the 80 on the other side since we're adding 5x and 80, we need to do the opposite to take 80 to the other side so subtract 80 on both sides what do you get? 5x + 80 - 80 = 140 - 80 can you simplify it
16?
mmhmm no let's look at each side by itself so what is 80 - 80 and what is 140 - 80
60
\( 5x + \color{red}{80-80} = \color{orange}{140-80}\) \( 5x + \color{red}{0} = \color{orange}{60}\) \( 5x = \color{orange}{60}\) \( 5x =60\) now solve for x
we have to solve for x and to do that we have to divide by 5 on both sides so what is 60 / 5 =
30
