flacko:

On the other hand, she was such a hothead that for a damned car she might not hesitate to sell a kidney, or a cornea, or a piece of her liver. What type of figurative language is exemplified in the above passage? Select all that apply.

Hoodmemes:

So where are ur answer options?

flacko:

metaphor simile personification hyperbole

Hoodmemes:

I'm thinking we can cross off the answer option "simile", we can cross it off due to the fact that a simile is basically to compare one thing to another Ex: "Her so broken they look like a crocodile's mouth." She is (Comparing) her broken shoes to a (Crocodile's Mouth) In the passage, he or she doesn't compare anything at all. Answer option "B.) Simile" would be Incorrect Now we can take a look at "personification", it kinda means to give nonliving objects or something thats not living personal characteristics that a human would have. Ex "My car must be sick bc its not starting today" In this passage, it says nothing of giving an object of something else personal characteristics. This leaves answer options A and D now said in the question "Select all that apply.",so these two options are prolly the answers. Ima say these the answers bc its basically non-realist exaggerations and metaphoric phrases going on for example " she was such a hothead that for a damned car she might not hesitate to sell a kidney, or a cornea, or a piece of her liver." Its honestly the non-realist exaggeration of how much she loves her car and what she would do to keep is that she would give her body parts to keep that car, and the metaphoric phrase (I think) or should I say "word" is "hothead" it doesn't actually mean her head is hot it means she gets angry/protective over her car easily. SO what I'm thinking is that "A.) Metaphor" and "D.) Hyperbole" are correct. (I may be wrong, but I have tried) Hope this helps
