one to one
these are above the horizontal line
we aren't talking about the horizontal line that's already there
we draw our own horizontal line, and if it crosses the graph more than once then we say it isn't one-to-one but if it only crosses once, then it is a one-to-one function
but that's as long as it also passes the vertical line test
i cant tell if these are one to one functions
so before we can find out if it's a one to one function we have to make sure it's a function so we have to do a vertical line test
you draw a vertical line anywhere in the graph, if it touches the line at two points or more then it isn't a function
these only touch it once
Good! So these are functions
Now to find out if it's a one to one function draw horizontal lines anywhere on the graph if it only touches the line once, then it is a one-to-one function if it touches more than once, like two times or more- then it is NOT a one-to-one function (it would still be a function but just not a one to one function)
they both only touch it once?
Exactly! Which means it's a one to one function
