Given the graph of y=f(x) below, solve for f(x)=2. If you have multiple answers, enter your answer in the form, x=a,b.

iuytyuioiuytyuiop:

its the same graph as my last post @snowflake0531

AZ:

so pulling up the graph from your previous post

what is the x-value when y is 2? f(x) is the same thing as y so think of f(x) = 2 as y = 2 so what x-values do you get when y = 2

iuytyuioiuytyuiop:

il sho you the graph its not that post

iuytyuioiuytyuiop:

yep its that graph sorry

AZ:

no worries haha

AZ:

so you know what the y-axis is, right?

iuytyuioiuytyuiop:

-1

AZ:

Good!! And there's one more keep moving more to the left, you'll see another x-value when y equals 2

iuytyuioiuytyuiop:

i dont see it

AZ:

Do you see that the blue line and the red line touch twice?

AZ:

One is when x is -1 like you said but what's the other point where they cross each other

iuytyuioiuytyuiop:

-4

AZ:

There you go!! So those are the two x-values when y = 2

iuytyuioiuytyuiop:

but hich is a and hich is b

iuytyuioiuytyuiop:

is -4 a?

AZ:

The order doesn't matter you can write it as x = -4, -1 or as x = -1, -4 either works fine
