well i skimmed through the introduction and it seemed like she kept herself motivated but having a diary to become a journalist, as the author read it as an adult,she must've been surprised by her young self.

can you explain why you think that? I do think we could use the word surprised but why do you say this?

i think that bc in the last paragraph and the second last paragraph it shows that based on her feelings and actions,it resulted in the book,its hard to explain -
