A figure is located at (0, 0), (−3, −4), and (−3, 0) on a coordinate plane. What kind of 3-D shape would be created if the figure was rotated around the x-axis? Provide an explanation and proof of your answer to receive full credit. Include the dimensions of the 3-D shape in your explanation.
@AZ
Ok this is the last one, and then thats it for this assignment
So these are the points on the plane
we're rotating it around the x-axis so like imagine it moving slowly around that line what kind of 3D shape would that form you can cut out a triangle and rotate it and try to imagine it too that way
Kinda looks like pac man
Right?
well packman is like a sphere with a mouth but I kinda see what you're trying to say
but think of the triangle as the base and it's just rotating around in a whole circle
oH
I was about to say a sphere triangle or something😅
I thought it was rotating over the x line though
So like um, up?
it is, it would just have a very wide base but it would be the same shape
Oh, ok!
Is this called a triangular prism?
mhmm prism or a pyramid?
wait it's not a pyramid either LOL
Haha
I got it!
is that a cylinder, cone or sphere, prism or pyramid
Triangular cylinder
cylinder would be like a cup |dw:1616275086289:dw|
But like a TrIaNguLAr cylinder
there's no such thing as a triangular cylinder though xD I think what you're trying to say is cone?
I am? Oh yeah yeah totally 😂
yes, why yes wonderful job!
yayy
So I just put its a cone
yup
Doesn't it need more?
For the answer? Just say: if it's rotated around the x-axis it would form a cone. Please use your imagination and you can insert this drawing (if you can) |dw:1616275354157:dw|
"Please use your imagination"?
Yeah ok I'll put that picture 😄
What if she asks me where I got it from?
your teacher will understand haha I mean- it's all about spatial recognition
uh draw your own version and say you drew it duh
How do I draw it though...
open up microsoft paint? or draw it on a real paper and then take a picture and attach it
I'm not exactly sure what software your school uses
How'd you do yours?
I use the draw tool that's found right underneath this text box where you type a reply
you have to admit though- that is a pretty solid drawing
|dw:1616275711396:dw|
Haha yeah
It gave me the option to copy it
if you want to be able to save it:
I dont know how to put it in the text box
It doesn't paste
You can insert a link though
oops, I mean if you want to link them to questioncove xd https://questioncove.com/assets/attachments/1616275825-605663a2671e02b0220b2800-image.png or https://snipboard.io/lQTkyA.jpg
Oh thank you! I got it on
Perfect, no problem!
Ok that was the last one
I can submit now
Is there anything you want to add though?
Nope, I think you're all done
Ok because its only one attempt
Ok I submitted it, I'll tell you what the score is when she grades it
