I had to write a poem about slavery in ELA, here it is, im proud of it. Slavery was a very terrible thing, and nobody should have to live through something like that. I hope my poem hits that point home. (ITS A SOUTHERN ACCENT, SO THOSE ARE NOT SPELLING ERRORS, THEIR INTENTIONAL (feedback pls) Wakin up again to another Day, in the same place Prayin to the lord above, hopin He would bless us all The hallway shortens when i Walk it I hear the master given orders I feel my footsteps are louder an, Heavier. I hear whips, and in the corner A small child crying, She gets scolded, and she Hurries away Ion know why they Think we are part of their “Destiny” Load of crap if you ask me I remember when I was A small child An I was in a nice little House. Livin happily Always flowers growin in the spring Then they came Always flowers dyin in the winter I go to my sad little Room, with the others. We go to sleep after Too much work to be safe Layin down again to another Night, in the same place Prayin to the lord above, hopin He would bless us all
