Which kind of event takes place in a character-versus-society conflict? A. A supernatural force affects a character’s life. B. A character faces a tough time dealing with a natural disaster. C. A character confronts a cultural tradition, a custom, or a law. D. A character struggles with his inner thoughts and feelings. E. A character opposes and defeats another character.

ClassixTailsBeatz:

The answer is C because if you think about character vs society deals with the government, a cultural tradition and with law. So, if the answer was B, then it would be character vs nature conflict.

Well we can certainly cross off answer options "D. A character struggles with his inner thoughts and feelings." and "E. A character opposes and defeats another character." We would cross off D bc that would be a (Character-versus-self) conflict, and we cross off E bc that would be a (Character-versus-Character) conflict (As i can see u got the correct answer but ima keep explaining) I would personally think that (B. character faces a tough time dealing with a natural disaster) is also wrong bc it's (Character-versus-Nature) since a (Natural Disaster) is basically like a storm or hurricane. So the two answer options left are A and C We can take a look at the definition of (character-versus-society): "conflict is an external conflict that occurs in literature when the protagonist is placed in opposition with society, the government, or a cultural tradition or societal norm of some kind."- https://www.masterclass.com/articles/what-is-character-vs-society-conflict-definition-of-literary-conflicts-with-examples#:~:text=Society%20Conflict%3F-,A%20character%20vs.,societal%20norm%20of%20some%20kind. I mean we can compare the definition directly towards one answer options since it's clear as day-light to see. (A character confronts a cultural tradition, a custom, or a law.) Its basically matches the entire definition so C must be right . (idk about what else was going on the comments here, but um hope this helps?)
