Question

Here's a quick write i wrote for school awhile ago. :p

There it was. The jewel I had worked my entire life for right in front of me. As I got closer to the giant jewel it started to grow extremely bright, I moved closer and as soon as I reached my hand out to touch it turned into a semi-liquid state and started to engulf my hand. I tried to pull away but each time I did it started going up my arm faster. I reached for my radio to call for help and I just grabbed air my radio fell off. It had almost engulfed my entire leg when I started frantically slashing at it getting enough of it to frantically swim away. I manage to get back to the surface and everyone asks me the jewel was there. I hesitate before saying there was nothing but fish and muck down there hoping they would believe me. As we drive away, I think of all I've lost in the hunt for the jewel only to find out it was a monster. I take one last look back and I see nothing but the calm ocean.
