are you sure? the second one has x< 0 x is LESS THAN 0 but we need it to include 0 for us to use the equation

its a eual or less than
that's a less than if it was -4 \(\le\) x \(\le\) 0 then it would be the second one but it's -4 \(\le\) x < 0 so we have to use the third one 0 \(\le\) x

if you're trying to do the equal to part you can also write it as 0 <= x

so the equation is x^2 - 2 what do you get when you plug in x = 0
0-2=2
