According to the Chief of Elder Jonas will experience physical pain as the Receiver.As it states in Chapter 9 “hear, "the training required of you involvespain. Physical pain.”, "You have never experienced that.”.With Jonas being the Memory Receiver pain will be brought onto him like none he has ever experienced before.This suggests that in the community its safe,almost nobody goes through physical pain nor mental pain.So most of the community has never been through such things.
