Which of the following sources is a primary source? +textbook +editorial found online +research report +an inauguration speech

Satellite74:

So, primary sources are a first-hand account of some topic. Thus, they're very trustoworthy. So of these 4, which would be the least trustworthy if you're trying to write an essay of some sort? What would you find information from that's reliable?

Satellite74:

Well, textbooks are seldomtimes primary source. But mostly secondary sources. Let's think of primary sources as sources that people can research. Which of the choices most resemble that so far?

Satellite74:

Right, that could count as a primary source. If it's from a time period currently being discussed. Now, this is the "which of the following" question. With that, there could be more than one answer. Any others that look like a primary source to you?

eatahgood:

research report

Satellite74:

I would believe that could be counted as a secondary source, if it's being written based on an already existing document. How about an inauguration speech? That seems straight from the source. Is that a primary source?

eatahgood:

yeah, ig

Satellite74:

Right, because that's a primary source: an original document or piece of writing. So, your answers would most likely be "textbook" and "inauguration speech." Apologies if one of these is wrong, there could be a bunch of technicalities with these choices.

eatahgood:

oh, ok thank you so much

Satellite74:

No problem! Just make sure to press "Close" on the top of this thread now that it's been answered.

eatahgood:
