Help with math

LearningTurtle:

How to I do 2 step equations?

supie:

Do you have a specific example?

LearningTurtle:

3x – 2 = 16

LearningTurtle:

I'm really behind.

supie:

if you're solving for x you would add 2 to both sides of the equation 1st

LearningTurtle:

okay

LearningTurtle:

3x - 0 =16

LearningTurtle:

3x-0= 18

supie:

\(3x– \cancel{2} = 16\\ ~~~~\cancel{+2}~~~+2\) or \(3x−2+2=16+2\)

LearningTurtle:

x=6?

supie:

yes-

supie:

you know how to get it?

LearningTurtle:

i just kinda figured division was the next step.

supie:

yes, division was the next step you would end up dividing 3 to both sides of the equation and you would do \(\frac{18}{3}\) and get 6

LearningTurtle:

okay. thankyou for the help

LearningTurtle:

i appreciate it,

supie:

yeah np
