mykenzie:

Evelyn believes that if she flips a coin 480 times, it will land tails up exactly 240 times. What would you tell Evelyn about her prediction?

kittybasil:

Well for one, she's got probability wrong. But first: Is this a free-response question?

mykenzie:

yes

kittybasil:

Okay. Sorry I'm responding to 2 math questions right now. Basically, when you flip a coin EACH TIME is fifty-fifty (or half-half) chance of getting heads or tails. Not "half of your flips will be heads/tails" the statistical logic is incorrectly applied here

mykenzie:

ok thanks

kittybasil:

I guess you could shorten that to "each flip has a 50-50 chance of being heads or tails, not the whole sum of your flips" if that makes any sense. (Sorry still trying to answer the other Q)

mykenzie:

it's ok i think I understand

kittybasil:

Alright. Feel free to let me know if anything is confusing :-)

mykenzie:

ok
