Easter is mentioned in the Bible. (Acts 12:4 KJV) But for those who celebrate, where in the bible does it mention Easter eggs and Easter bunny?
It doesn't mention it in the bible. The word Easter is only mentioned once.
@Astrid1, so why do many churches celebrate Easter with Easter Bunnies and Easter Eggs if such things are not biblical?
\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @Hero @Astrid1, so why do many churches celebrate Easter with Easter Bunnies and Easter Eggs if such things are not biblical? \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) @Extrinix maybe you can help answer it.
I know it was/maybe still is, celebrated bc of the resurrection of Christ? I'm not the best at answering these bc I've never went to church or heard of any of this, I've only heard bits from my parents.
What does Easter Egg and Easter Bunny have to do with Christ's Death/Resurrection?
You see Astrid, Easter isn't jst about the bunny and Easter eggs. It's a holiday to celebrate the ressurection of Jesus Christ. Although Jesus didn't die on Easter, the bible states that he died on the cross on a day called Good Friday, to then be ressurected a few days later on Easter Sunday.
I have been lied to my whole life.....
Which is why I don't celebrate it
after a little research the Easter bunny was used to be known as a judge, where the bunny would judge children, and determine if they were good or not, just like Santa.
SO YOUR SAYIN THE EASTER BUNNY IS NOT REAL!?!?!?!?
\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @JammarWalker SO YOUR SAYIN THE EASTER BUNNY IS NOT REAL!?!?!?!? \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) only if you believed it wasn't real, it could be considered real to other people

It doesn't make sense to celebrate Santa and Bunnies if Easter is supposed to be about honoring Christ. The logic makes zero sense.

\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @0mega yea, wasn't his name Saint Nicholas? \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) yes
yet again, it still won't be biblical as santa didn't form any appearance in the book itself

So it goes much deeper than just for corporate gain alone.

But over the years companies slowly started weaving American traditions into the holiday. So after time, it turned into the easter bunny and eggs to celebrate spring and two of the most thought of animals for spring, rabbits, and chicks.
If that makes sense

If you read Acts 12:4, Easter is only mentioned once and there is no evidence that it had anything to do with celebrating Christ. Easter as a Christ-centered celebratory event came later with the establishment of Christianity as a religion by the Roman Empire.

While the church obviously does not "celebrate" the easter bunny and having candy and eggs and all that good stuff, it may include some of those aspects just out of fun for the kids. More importantly, things that are culturally relevant have more of a chance of bringing someone into the church, including parents, which is a big deal. But from my experience, churches use the Easter holiday, even its mainstream aspects, to attract people who would not otherwise be willing or present to hear the message of Jesus' death, resurrection, and victory over sin and death, which is what christians actually celebrate on Easter. HTH :)
