One distinction is that Adams never owned slaves and instead represented the Amistad slaves in their rebellion and overthrow of the slave ship's captain and crew. Jackson, on the other hand, owned 150 slaves and led the alleged genocide of American Indians, rather than defending human rights. Does that help?
