So remember that we said that the angle in the back is half of the arc?

Allison:

Half?

AZ:

The angle that we're looking for KLM is going to be equal to that arc

AZ:

This time we have to double because we know the angle and we're trying to find the arc angle = 1/2 * arc

Allison:

25.5

AZ:

no no the angle KNM is 51 51 = 1/2 * arc KM what is KM = ??

Allison:

51*.5?

Allison:

51/.5?

Allison:

I'm so confused??

AZ:

you divide 51 = 1/2 * x so to get x, you would multiply 2 on both sides or another way to look at it would be 51 = 0.5 * x you divide 0.5 on both sides to get x 51 / 0.5 = ?? It's the same thing

Allison:

102?

AZ:

There you go! And since we're looking for angle KLM which is a central angle (that is, it's the angle that has a vertex with the center of the circle) so that angle is going to be the same as the arc

AZ:

Does that make sense?

Allison:

It does, thank you. Sorry, I'm slow in math (:

AZ:

No worries at all! It's my pleasure!! :)
